Lahore Police Announces 27-Point Plan for Basant Safety

Lahore police have submitted a 27-point security plan to the Lahore High Court. The plan aims to ensure safe Basant celebrations. It outlines key measures to manage traffic, safety, and illegal activities. The provincial government will provide 5,000 rickshaws for free transport during the festival.
Authorities have identified kite-flying hotspots in the city based on data from the past decade. Lahore will be divided into three security zones: Red, Yellow, and Green. In Red Zones, motorcycles without antennas will be prohibited, and helmets will be mandatory for all riders.
To prevent illegal kite-flying activities on rooftops, security personnel will be stationed throughout the city. Only approved cotton thread will be allowed for kite flying. Strict action will be taken against those using chemical-coated or metallic strings. Drone cameras will monitor high-activity areas.

Quick Response Teams (QRTs) will be on standby to handle emergencies. Authorities will also launch an awareness campaign about safe kite flying. The campaign will use newspapers and social media to inform the public. Police will work with LESCO to address any electricity-related issues during Basant.
The security plan is designed to balance cultural festivities with public safety. It will be implemented under strict supervision to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for everyone. Police aim to maintain order while allowing the cultural joy of Basant to continue.
